Slaughter of the Innocents

Herod, the Rome appointed king of Judea, feeling threatened by the news of the birth of the king of the Jews in Bethlehem, took measures to eliminate this possible opponent to the throne. Knowing the approximate time of the birth he ordered the slaughter of all the children under the age of two in Bethlehem and “in all the coasts thereof.” This was probably carried out by war-ready, experienced Roman soldiers, accustomed to battling equally fierce adversaries with shields and swords. This horror was almost certainly witnessed by weeping, pleading mothers whose children were torn from their loving arms – but they wept in vain for “In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.”

The United States is a republic. Can this country, in any way, be compared to Herod? No, our denial is loud and clear, we are completely, drastically different. Our people are enlightened, fairly well educated and we have civil rights and freedoms. Women in America have equal rights - it is the discordantly blaring mothers who actually, unbelievably demand the right to slaughter their own pre-born children. Their passionate demands are met by a Marxist, activist specially selected supreme court and allowed by a morally corrupt congress – both of which completely ignore the very constitution they have sworn to uphold. What happened to the three branches of government designed with checks and balances to protect the citizens? What about the guarantee of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for everyone including pre-born children?

Are the pre-born children considered unfit? The socialist agenda apparently targets the pre-born but womanhood and motherhood are the real targets. Congressional and Supreme Court misdeeds are applauded by those who are persuaded that they own their bodies and can therefore do whatever they want with it. Somehow, they see absolutely no correlation between doing whatever they want with their own body and doing whatever they want to someone else’s body. The socialist philosophy persuades women that their body has more value than the infant they carry. They feel perfectly justified to have their children torn from them, not from their loving arms by a heartless enemy but literally torn piece by piece from their wombs. Obviously, legal permission, according to the all powerful state, has been granted but does that make it permissible?

The defining difference between a Marxist and a Christian is that the Marxist does not acknowledge a difference between right and wrong. Whatever is expedient is right - whether it is a lie to cover guilt for the supposed good of the country, infanticide for convenience, euthanasia to cover guilt, power for the sake of self aggrandizement or compliance for the sake of a vote. The state can permit sin but not without eventual accountability. Politics without principles are destructive to humanity starting with the most vulnerable. The Marxists can spin and endorse new terminology but one cannot change the consequences by calling it termination of pregnancy or abortion. The results are still the same. One cannot alter the sanctity of life by changing the word from baby to fetus.

Children are viewed as a blessing in a God-fearing society but as an inconvenient cursing in a selfish, godless materialistic world. In our throw-away society we have thrown away about 44 million individuals – 44 million lives, people who could have contributed their talents to the country. They might have been teachers, doctors, engineers, friends, neighbors, mothers and fathers.

As of 2002 approximately 82% of adult United States citizens claimed to be Christian. Christianity does not promote infanticide for He said let the little children come unto me. Further He stated that whosoever would offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Yet one in five of those who have abortions are professed Christians. How can this be? Adherence to the state over adherence to our higher authority?

We must speak with their votes, as well as our voices, so as to be heard above the Herods and others who have ignorantly or knowingly embraced the Marxist agenda. They often utilize verbal volume when they lack truth and substance. Their lies sound beneficial and benign but are deceptive and destructive. They entrap the desperate and the selfish who are looking for an easy way out. Accepting responsibility for personal actions is not a part of their personal strategy. We must take a stand for those who cannot stand for themselves. Stand up for the 44 million and be counted. When people accept and tolerate everything, including infanticide, they end up believing in nothing, not even their own posterity.
