My second great grandfather, John Lewis Lane, was born in Indiana 2 December 1824 and died in Madison Co., Indiana on 4 September 1894. There is no death certificate for him. He lived in Madison Co., Indiana from 1850 or before. Most of the Madison County records were destroyed by fire. He married twice - first to Hannah Gentry in Wayne Co., Indiana with whom he had four children - Mary E. Lane, William, Martha C. and Francis.
He married second Delilah Ann Webb 16 Aug 1856 in Madison Co., Indiana with whom he had thirteen children. In attempting to find the parents of John Lewis Lane I have researched many Indiana Lane families who were there as early as 1830. I hope some of what I have gathered will assist others. There are many duplications in the records as I have recorded a name each time that I have found it. Corrections,additions, information welcome.
